Good guidelines - I would add that today a pre-product startup (like mine) can develop a prototype and simply ask customers what they think using a questionnaire and ending with - how much money would you pay? I learned this the hard way but it is IMHO the most value-add activity an early stage leader can make - talk to customers and ask them for a price
